Due to today’s weather forecast, tonight’s games will be cancelled (in line with the PLBA’s Hot Weather Policy).

This is unfortunate as last Thursday games were also cancelled, due to the weather and the Leisure Centre facility being closed.

We have made the decision earlier today (we were hoping to wait until 2pm), partly due to a lack of available referees.
It’s unrealistic and unfair to allow some referees to umpire in excess of 10 games per week, often one after the other.
On top of this, we need to remember that they are umpiring multiple games in the same heat that players are playing one game.
The simple fact is the lack of available referees nearly every night over every game each week is a problem for all of you, not just those who have committee roles in PLBA.

Basketball is the ONLY local sport where clubs do not have to provide referees.
